Gmail message appear twice, identical copies

I've been noticing this for a while now and finally had to write in. For only my gmail account, when the mail synchronize happens I get two identical copies of each email. No matter how many emails come in, I get two.

The weird thing seems to be that if I select one of the identical emails and delete it... the other one gets deleted too. However, if I am patient and wait until the 'has been read' indictor goes off and then delete the email, the other one (with the read mark still there) does not get deleted.

Have fun with this one and let me know if you need a log or something.

MM rocks! Thanks for doing this for the rest of us. I hate to think of spending my golden years dealing with AppleMail/PostBox, etc.

    Things to consider/try:

    1. Make sure all your mailboxes are online under SOURCES in the mailbox outline.
    2. Enable the UID column in the messages outline. When you have duplicates do they both have a UID assigned?
    3. Are the messages in the same IMAP mailbox?
    4. Instead of trying to delete a message, try to right-click the mailbox and “Synchronize”. Does that make one of the copies disappear?

    1. They are all in SOURCES

    2. Both of the duplicated message have a different UID (see image file)

    3. No, one copy is in [Gmail]/Important and one in INBOX

    4. Synchronized the INBOX and [Gmail]/Important and both messages remain.

    Anything else to try? I'll not delete them in case you need more information.

    OK perhaps this was a stupid mistake on my part but subscribing to the important label in Gmail. When I stop subscribing, I just get the one message. Apparently Gmail is deciding all by itself what should be Important to me or not and placing a link or copy to a message from the Inbox also in the Important label.

    Anyway, by not subscribing to the Important label, things act as they should now.

    Sorry for bothering you with this Benny, I know you have more important things to work on.

    Well, it wasn't stupid. It's hard to understand how Gmail works, but as you can see MailMate unsubscribes Important for a reason. It's possible to create a tag matching the IMAP keyword Important (not 100% sure about the naming of that keyword). Then you'll still have access to the information of some messages being important according to Google. You could create a smart mailbox with these messages as well.

    (MailMate could/should also warn about subscribing to this mailbox -- and Starred as well.)
