The logs only seem to say that authentication fails -- most likely because of a wrong password.

It appears the problem may be that MailMate does not ask you for a password for the SMTP server when authentication fails. Is this what happens? If it is then I'll try changing a password myself to see if I can reproduce it.

(Sorry for being slow to respond to your emails.)

Related to this, I have now changed logging such that I can see if the user has been asked for a password.

    I found the solution !
There is TWO keyS to delete in the keychain : ONE for the IMAP and the OTHER for the SMTP
I had an ancient smtp key that wasn't deleted !
Not easy to understand but easy to fix when you know where to look !

I'm glad you found a solution, but it's still a problem that you were not presented with a password requester when authentication failed...

Ah, I got it! This is what happens: MailMate has a workaround (for buggy servers) which means that it tries multiple authentication methods before giving up. In your case this resulted in MailMate performing more login attempts than allowed by the server (3, I think). After that the server terminates the connection and MailMate thinks that the lost connection is the problem and not the failed authentication attempts. The result is no password requester.

Thanks for making me aware of this issue.
