Add easy labeling / mailbox creation
Reported by narathc (at gmail) | February 11th, 2014 @ 10:33 PM
As in gmail when I press l, then I can type a mailbox / label (which works really well in MailMate), but would be great if (as happens in gmail) I create something new, then it will create that mailbox and file that message.

To make sure I understand you correctly: MailMate already auto-creates unknown tag names. You want MailMate to also automatically assign a Gmail label to such tags? (This would have the effect of also creating a Gmail “mailbox” with the message.)
Technically, I don't think this would be a problem to implement. It would probably have to be optional.

Hi Benny,
Yes, if your tags and gmail labels were integrated that would totally work. Gmail presents these as "folders" but they are really tags. I've got important subjects sorted this way in gmail and it's the only reason that I sometimes cmd-tab out of mailmate and back into gmail (so I can sort messages quickly). If I could tag them and have them apply the gmail label that would help.
I do also use nested labels in gmail - will that also work?

Ok, I'll note a request for an option to auto-create Gmail labels when creating new tags. Note that MailMate already integrates tags and labels.
I'm not sure about nested labels. I have an open issue (#508) about this, but I was unable to reproduce it myself. Maybe you can help if it doesn't work for you.
