Error: Folder doesn't exist Deleted Messages

Reported by jchatard | November 27th, 2013 @ 08:21 PM

Hi,

I'm using Google Apps for my domain emails - so Gmail.

When I try to search in Mailmate for deleted messages (left side bar) Deleted Messages > Account Name, I get this error message.

MailMate encountered the following error: “Server response: “M5 NO [NONEXISTENT] Folder doesn't exist (Failure)”. Command attempted: “M5 SUBSCRIBE "Deleted Messages"”.”.
Mailbox: “Deleted Messages”.

Did I do something wrong?

Thanks,

Cheers,
Jérémy

Looks like MailMate is wrongly trying to do something for a non-existing mailbox.

When this happens, could you hold down ⇧ when clicking “Retry”. That should generate a log file on the Desktop which you can send to me (“Help ▸ Send Feedback”).

I would also like to see this file:

    ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/Sources.plist

You might be able to fix it by going to the account under SOURCES in the mailboxes outline and then explicitly select the “Deleted Messages” mailbox type for one of the existing mailboxes in the account (“[Gmail]/Trash”).

Ok, the log is pretty weird:

    Creating mailbox
    C: M4 CREATE "Deleted Messages"
S: M4 NO [ALREADYEXISTS] Duplicate folder name (Failure)
Error: Server response: “M4 NO [ALREADYEXISTS] Duplicate folder name (Failure)”. Command attempted: “M4 CREATE "Deleted Messages"”.
    C: M5 SUBSCRIBE "Deleted Messages"
S: M5 NO [NONEXISTENT] Folder doesn't exist (Failure)
Error: Server response: “M5 NO [NONEXISTENT] Folder doesn't exist (Failure)”. Command attempted: “M5 SUBSCRIBE "Deleted Messages"”.

The mailbox already exists, but it cannot be subscribed...

I still think you can fix it by setting the mailbox type for the correct mailbox (right-click “[Gmail]/Trash” and look for Mailbox Type). You probably also need to delete the “Deleted Messages” mailbox under the account under SOURCES. To stop MailMate from trying to create it on the server.
