Mailmate crashes on launch

Reported by James Rudolph | September 19th, 2013 @ 05:13 PM

Starting today Mail Mate crashes as soon as it loads. I don't do a thing. I haven't added any new software. It starts connecting to server, than crashes. It has worked flawlessly til now. I have downloaded a new copy of app. Does the same thing. Mac OS 10.6.8. I'm guessing a corrupted file somewhere. Any ideas. I couldn't find a solution here searching "crash." I've had to dust off Apple Mail.

You can force MailMate to rebuild its database by following the instructions here.

Before you do that then it would be nice with some additional information. If you can launch MailMate from a Terminal window as follows then there might be some output before MailMate crashes which could be useful to me:

    /Applications/MailMate.app/Contents/MacOS/MailMate

Also, if you can think of any events leading up to MailMate starting to crash then that might also be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry about the inconvenience.

I keep trying to add to this ticket, but it doesn't stick when I update. Very frustrating for a help forum. I rebuilt database and that worked for the last few days. Today it crashed again, when I changed a subject line of a reply. Asked if I wanted a new thread. I clicked yes. Crash.

    • State changed from “new” to “closed”

The subject-line-change crash has been fixed in the latest test releases. You can fetch it by holding down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

I've contacted lighthouseapp.com about the problem some users have with updating tickets. Apparently it is quite easy to be labelled as a spammer. Sorry about that. The only solution appears to be that I find another support forum. I'll consider that if it continues to be an issue.

I'll close this ticket and keep the new ticket (you created) open instead.
