STMP server that doesn't end in .com doesn't send
Reported by Jon Barksdale | September 13th, 2013 @ 08:40 PM
Our internal mail server (/domain) ends in .internal, and when I had that configured as the smtp server, no auth, port 25, MailMate refused to even try to connect to the server. Adding a hosts entry that faked out a .com ending fixes the issue, with no other configuration changes.
For example:
smtp.mycomp.internal -> trying to send mail never even connects
to the server.
smtp.mycomp.com -> works immediately.
- Never connecting based on activity viewer window as well as sendmail logs on the server side.
Also, I tried to reply with a comment, and it takes me to a screen that looks like it worked, but the comment does't exist when I refresh the ticket.

Thanks for the feedback. MailMate itself does not treat
.internal
different than any other suffix, but maybe some system function treats it differently.When you write “never even connects to the server” is this then based on the logs in the Activity Viewer (Window menu) or something else?
