Strange behavior for 'Root of Thread'

Reported by Steve Mayer | September 6th, 2013 @ 06:35 PM

I'm using build 3663 and I'm seeing some strange behavior in the 'Root of Thread' operation. When I choose the hot key for 'Root of Thread' (⌃⌘R), instead of the highlight moving to the message at the root of the thread (currently in the global Inbox), it initiates a search within the 'All Messages' location for the thread (along with the option to save the search).

Any thoughts? What I'd ultimately like to do is a) be anywhere in the thread and go to the last message (this works) and b) be anywhere in the thread and either collapse the entire thread or at least move to the first message so I can collapse the thread.

Thanks,

Steve

It's actually intended to be a feature. The idea is that if you are in a mailbox in which the root of the thread is not available then MailMate automatically finds the entire thread and selects the root message. You can then easily apply an action on the entire thread, e.g., move it to a specific mailbox or mute it.

But I gather that you do not like this behavior...

There is a custom key binding named collapseThread:, but it appears to be buggy. I could at least fix that.

    Benny,

I see the benefit of what you're describing below as something that I'd also like so I don't what that to change.

Just fixing the collapseThread would be sufficient for me as the only reason that I was trying to get to the root of the thread was for collapseThread to work properly :).

    Thanks,

    Benny,

With the update today (3672), it appears that the keybinding for 'collapseThread:' no longer works. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Putting this issue into a ticket of it's own.
