Feature Request: Signatures from File
Reported by Jonathan Hollin | September 2nd, 2013 @ 02:29 PM
My employer insists that all outbound email include a "live" HTML signature. "Live" because it is automatically updated (at the time of email composition) with our latest company blog headlines and Twitter posts.
I could comply with this easily with Thunderbird - which just does it. However, I hated using Thunderbird. It feels bloated and clumsy to me and its search is appalling (search is a deal-breaker for me - my mailboxes are huge).
I switched to Apple's Mail.app which has great search and works really well for me. I even managed to hack together a primitive "live" signature - using a file watcher and shell script. However, Mail.app has to be restarted when the signature changes in order for the new signature to take effect.
Therefore, the only feature missing for me in MailMate is a signature handler that will allow me to select a HTML signature file (with support for remote volumes) and that it then dynamically include that file at compose time - so that its latest state is always in play.
Is such a feature ever likely to make it into MailMate?

Sorry, this is not currently possible. It might be some day, but you'll have the additional problem that MailMate only supports Markdown-generated HTML and not HTML in general. I'll mark this ticket as
bluesky
. Not because I reject the idea, but because it is unlikely to happen soon.
