Colored Tabs, Tab Icons, Pinned Tabs

Reported by Alan Dobkin | December 11th, 2025 @ 05:31 PM

It would be really helpful to have a method to distinguish "important" tabs. For example, I often keep a tab open for Drafts and another one for my high priority tasks. However, when opening many other tabs, these easily get lost in the shuffle. Currently, all tabs either display simply the mailbox name if no message is selected, or they display the selected message subject (much more common in my case). It would be very helpful to have some type of visual indicator to signify the special ones. Initial suggestions:

  1. Use the selected color for that mailbox to color the tab, either the background or the foreground text.
  2. Use the symbol icon to appear in front of that text. For comparison, every browser displays the favicon for that site in each tab.
  3. Allow a tab to be "pinned" or maybe even renamed to force it to use the mailbox name instead of the subject text.

Thanks for considering this idea!
