Delete slow and sometimes not working

Hi Benny

I have mailmate connected to a few email addresses.

One is hosted with Gmail, and one is with Rackspace.

The Gmail account deletes messages from MailMate instantly to the human user.

The rackspace delete (pressing the trash can button), often does nothing. I opened the activity viewer and can see some transactions. Seems that when nothing happens I get IDLE-NOOP-IDLE pretty quickly. Sometimes other transactions flip by. Sometimes the message then goes away. Other times not.

I know this is not very cause and effect. Any Ideas? Is there other data I should collect?

    Do you mean when deleting emails in MailMate? Or do you mean what happens in MailMate when deleting emails elsewhere?

    The problem happens in MailMate, when I delete emails using MailMate and the account is hosted on my rackspace account.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Collect data?
    Rebuild indexes?
    Contact my hosting company?

    Does it matter in which IMAP mailbox you are deleting?

    Try this:

    • Open the Activity Viewer in the Window menu (to enable logging).
    • Try deleting a message.
    • Wait a bit.
    • Use “Help > Send Server Logs”.

    Then I can see if I can spot anything suspicious.

    The problem is only with one imap account. The private gmail server works quickly, the rackspace imap has the delay. I'll send the log.

    I did several deletes in the last few minutes. None of them completed. I could send a video of the activity viewer if you need it.

    Newsflash! - The problem is not deleting, the problem is my smart mailbox! It is finding deleted and trashed messages.

    I was about to report the following when I figured out it was a smart mailbox problem. I changed the filter and there is no problem

    A couple/few days ago, I opened my grenning.net account on another computer unsign Thunderbird. I could delete items.

    This is a bit sketchy, as I did not precisely record my steps, but deleting from Thunderbird seemed to fix Mailmate because then I could also delete items on Mailmate. I could delete an email on Thunderbird and immediately see the deleted email go away from Mailmate.

    Today couldn't delete emails from Mailmate. Sometimes pressing delete 2 or 3 times worked. If I delete from Thunderbird, then Mailmate showed a little trash can icon next to the message and did nothing else. An hour later I did the same thing and get..... Aha moment on the smart mailboxes!
