Open in Apple Mail

I just discovered a command in the Message menu: Open in Apple
Mail.
I occasionally want to see a message in Mail in order to take
advantage of better printing options or to send a formatted reply,
but every time I try this command with a selected message I get an
alert from Mail:
The operation couldn't be completed. (MCMailErrorDomain
error 1030.)
Mail was unable to open the URL
message://
%3C20240111050009.33897569.118672 @sailthru.com%3E".
Is this a known issue or have I fallen foul of some
requirement?
MailMate 1.14 (5937), Mac OS 12.6.7

I haven't tried this feature recently, but note that it'll only work if the message is also present in Apple Mail. That is, it only works well for accounts present in both applications.
