feature request: attach mail link when sharing into a new reminder
Reported by Eli Rotenberg | September 12th, 2022 @ 06:58 PM
desired behavior: right click on text selection in message, choose Share > Reminders. The reminder should have a link to the original message. This is the behavior from Apples Mail.app client.
actual behaviour: reminder is created but there is no link back to the message.
even if the link back opened up to mail.app instead of mail mate, it would be useful to me. I would like to quickly reference the text of the original email sometimes, or to reply when my task is done.
thanks
Eli

I don't know how this works with Apple Mail (they even get a little icon in there). The “Share” menu is a system feature and the interface is provided by the Reminders app. I suspect Apple uses some private API, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.
In any case, try enabling the Reminders bundle in the Bundles preferences pane of MailMate and then use “Commands > Reminders > Add ...” to add to Reminders. This will create a link which works with MailMate if MailMate is the default email client. Otherwise, it opens Apple Mail.
Unfortunately, this method does not yet support basing it on the current text selection (it just takes the message).
(I'll mark this bluesky since I simply don't know how to make the system Share menu behave differently.)
