notification sound not working

For the past few releases I've had, the notification sound for new messages is not playing. I'm on the latest beta release, still not working.

Check your settings in “System Preferences > Notifications & Focus > MailMate”. Then let me know if that does not help.

That worked, thanks! I've never had to use that panel in preferences before. Is that new? Why would it have turned itself off?

It's relatively new that MailMate uses the notifications system to play sounds. I had to make this change to make MailMate behave better, e.g., when using the “Do Not Disturb” feature.
In other words, notifications have probably been turned off for you for a long time, but updating MailMate then made this noticeable (due to the lack of sounds).
