Replying creates new email at top of inbox
Reported by Jerry Kolber | December 4th, 2012 @ 10:31 PM
Hello,
I use Gmail IMAP. When I reply to a mail in MailMate, it moves the
original email and my reply to the top of the inbox as a
thread.
I'd like the option to archive the email when I send it, rather
than creating a new mail in my inbox (the new eamil it creates in
the inbox is the SENT mail FROM me to the original sender)
seems like weird behavior...can you advise?
thanks
Jery

First make sure you are looking at the “Inbox” and not the “All Messages” mailbox (which includes all messages except those deleted and in the junk mailbox). Then look at the account under SOURCES in the mailbox outline: Check that the Inbox has not been assigned the “Sent Messages” mailbox type. You can see this in the context sensitive menu (right click), or the main menu, or the action menu below the mailboxes outline.
Let me know whether or not you find the problem. It is not expected behavior.

thanks, that was the problem. only other question - when I reply, is there such a thing as reply/archive as there is on Gmail online? or is it two separate steps?

If you mean a “send and archive replied message” feature then no. It's a two-step process. This seems to be a popular request though, so it might not be that long before it's added to MailMate in some form.
