Freezing while composing after a while after 12.4 update
Reported by Cheshire | May 30th, 2022 @ 05:08 PM
Hi there -- ever since updating to Mac OS 12.4, I've been experiencing freezing while composing messages (slow beach ball of death). Fortunately most of the draft gets saved automatically each time so that when I force-quit and reopen, most of what I wrote is still in the autosaved draft (thank you!).
But it's happening most of the time now, and I've restarted my machine to see if that could fix it, but nope.
I tried to paste in the crash report, but it was too long to fit. I don't know if it's helpful, but I can email it if you like.
Thanks!
Cheshire

+1 to this, on macOS 12.5 myself, on an M1 Mac Mini. Not sure when it started exactly, as I don't do as much email-sending these days as I once did. I am not sure of this, but it seems to happen when I am typing too quickly? (I type pretty fast, circa 90-100 wpm or more if I really get going.) After a few words, if I am going quickly, I can feel MailMate getting a bit sluggish... it SEEMS like if I then stop typing in time and let it catch up, I can avert the beachball? So maybe some kind of race condition or something in the code, perhaps? At first I thought maybe it was an issue with Premailer, but I changed the Compose settings for HTML to Scoped Stylesheet and the issue persisted. I will continue to monitor and debug/elaborate on the necessary crash conditions as much as I am able.
Thanks,
Matt -

Yes, please email a crash report to me using “Help > Send Feedback”. Also, make sure to try the latest test release: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

@Matt: It's not unlikely to be related to typing speed. I'll keep it in mind.

This still happens for me almost every time, and I'm on the latest test release.
