IMAP renaming not working
Reported by Roger Antonsen | March 5th, 2022 @ 01:45 AM
After renaming an IMAP folder, the new name remains in italics. Restarting MailMate resets the folder name to the previous name.
For example, newly created IMAP folders are stuck as “Untitled”.
Somehow, the changes are not propagate to the IMAP server.

I have also noticed that the moving of a message to a specific folder is not propagated to the IMAP server unless I navigate that same folder. When I navigate to the folder, the change is propagated to the server immediately. Could this be related?

Sorry about the late response.
Are all mailboxes online (not greyed out) if you expand everything in the Sources section of the mailbox list?
Is everything synchronized, that is, no persistent spinners? (This could prevent new change to be synchronized.)
Alternatively, it could be that synchronization is partly disabled. Have you made any changes using “Mailbox > Synchronization” to any accounts/mailboxes?

No worries. Thank you for an amazing piece of software!
I now believe that this is not a bug. Suddenly, it got better. However, sometimes it takes quite a while (up to a minute) before the update is propagated and the folder name is no longer in italics. Perhaps this is due to the existence of very many folders?

- State changed from new to cantreproduce
Ok, let me know if it becomes reproducible. In any case, mailbox creation/renaming is definitely not a strong aspect of MailMate. It'll likely only become great if/when I reimplement the IMAP related code and if I make sure that it can be automatically tested and behave well no matter what the server does :)
