After writing a long email with syntax highlighting MailMate stopped booting
Reported by Krystian | January 31st, 2022 @ 11:50 PM
I have written a long email to the customer. I was using Markdown and used the following parts of the code:
- syntax highlighting for JSON (```json)
- first, second, and third-level headers
The email was large and sent correctly. After I sent it, the app has crashed. It now cannot start at all.
I have located the email (it's confidential and cannot share) in the Sent directory (/Application Support/MailMate/...) and removed it since I thought the issue was there. It didn't work.
You will find the Crash report from the Operating system in the attachments.

I have found a workaround. I have removed the email from sent and drafts on Gmail. After this, I have backed up all the .plist files from the Application Support. Removed the MailMate catalog. I started the MailMate again and restored the .plist files. The system works as previously.

Do you have any rules forwarding emails? The crash report indicates this might be an issue related to this, but I think it's fixed in the latest test release(s). Hold down the option key when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane or get the latest directly if you are in a crashing loop again: https://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/
