"Message is Received Today" includes yesterday's received messages in the next day.

Reported by rontaro | January 14th, 2022 @ 02:49 AM

I use the smart mailbox to show only the messages received today.

The next day, when I look at the smart mailbox, yesterday's messages are also included.
However, when I restart Mailmate, only today's messages are displayed.

The condition of the smart mailbox is as follows.

All of the following are true
Message is Received Today

How can I see today's received messages without restarting Mailmate?

    Sorry about the delay.

At least in theory this should work, but I relaunch MailMate so often (while working on it) that I might have missed that this is somehow broken. If you are not already on the latest test release then please update to make sure this still fails: Hold down the option key when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane. See the About window for the revision number.

You can make it an hour instead to make testing easier.

I have a second report about this. I've still not been able to reproduce it (using a short delay), but I suspect it might be related to whether or not the computer has been sleeping. Here's one thing which would support this theory: If you do not relaunch MailMate, will the older messages then disappear at some point? That is, the problem is not that they are not removed, but that it happens too late.

    Yes.
If you do not restart MailMate, the old messages will disappear before you know it.

I believe I'm able to reproduce the issue now. Sorry about the delay. I will likely be able to fix it when I've had time to debug it.

This appears to be an illusive problem. Now I'm unable to reproduce it again. Could you let me know if you also see the issue with r5872+?

(I did fix an issue, but it's not obvious to me that it would also fix the behavior you have seen and which I was also able to reproduce once a few days ago.)

This morning, my Today mailbox includes yesterday's emails. The issue is definitely not fixed.

    Thank you for your research.
I tried with Version 5872, but it was not resolved.

Yes, r5872 definitely did not work. I've now refactored some related code and I'd like you to try r5874. I'm not sure it's fixed, but it'll make it a bit easier to debug if it's not.

    I tried r5874.
When I checked this morning, the problem appeared to be resolved.
It was only a one-day check, so I'll give it a week or so and see how it goes.

I looked at the situation for six days.
    There was no problem.
    Thank you for the fix.
