toggleReadState and ( 'toggleTag:', '\\Seen' ) don't work

I set mailmate to mark a message read only after 20 seconds, so I wanted to assign a key to set the \Seen flag immediately manually. However, the flag state doesn't seem to effect or change. Cqn you look into why?
