Indication of offline mailbox (broken?)

I have a vague memory that in some previous version, when a mailbox went offline and the Sources list was hidden, the word "Sources" turned red, to indicate that some mailboxes were not functioning properly. If so, this stopped working at some point.
If my memory is wrong, is there a way to indicate that some mailbox has gone offline? If the sources are not expanded, it could be months before discovering an issue (as it was for me). Could be simple, like "*" next to the word "Sources".
Of course, some users may purposely take mailboxes offline, but I think adding an indicator would be useful for them as well, since it would show that the mailboxes remained offline.
