Undo granularity and insertText

Reported by Stephen Chong | March 21st, 2020 @ 02:57 PM

I use keyboard shortcuts to insert text (using insertText: and insertFormatString:). Occasionally I use the wrong shortcut, and would like to undo it, and use the correct shortcut. However, when I press Cmd-Z, it also undoes the recent text I typed.

In general, I think the use of keyboard shortcuts to insert text is sufficiently different from typing text that it warrants having its own entry in the undo log. So I'd like to propose that as a change.

That is, after typing some text, then using a keyboard shortcut to insert text, and then pressing Cmd-Z, only the text insertion should be undone, not the earlier typed text.

Also, inserting text via a paste command (Cmd-V) also feels like it deserves its own undo entry.

Thanks as always for an excellent, useful, and powerful application!
