Repeated passphrase prompts and crash when composing OpenPGP message (build 5594)
Reported by Mika Raunio | February 21st, 2019 @ 08:41 PM
While composing an OpenPGP encrypted message, MailMate prompts me for my PGP passphrase approximately every 15 seconds, but only if I've typed something since the last prompt (when auto-saving my draft?)
I have to enter the passphrase correctly twice to dismiss the dialog.
If I dismiss with Esc 3 times, MailMate crashes.
The passphrase isn't saved in Keychain.

Yes, saving for the composer preview triggers it (which it really shouldn't, but that's a different story and is part of a bigger design “problem”). With respect to saving the password, this should be handled by the passphrase GUI which is actually not built into MailMate. It is triggered by the
gpg
command used by MailMate. You should check your “GPG Preferences” (if using GPGTools) and/or the.gnupg/gpg-agent.conf
settings.Escape leading to a crash is naturally a MailMate bug, but I cannot seem to reproduce it. Have you allowed MailMate to send crash reports in the General preferences pane?

Hi. I thought I'd enabled crash reports but that wasn't the case. I did, and reproduced the bug, hopefully you received the report.
Also attaching the OS crash report just in case.
And thanks, allowing passphrase caching in GPG Preferences does make things a lot better.
