smart mailboxes refresh too quickly when mailbox sidebar is hidden

Reported by Januz | February 5th, 2019 @ 02:34 AM

MailMate Version: 1.12.4 (5594)
Mac OS X Version: 10.13.6 (17G4015)

I typically work from a smart mailbox that shows flagged and unread items from all my accounts. I would like to hide the sidebar/mailboxes to get a more streamlined view on my mails.

Problem: Whenever the mailboxes are hidden, every time I select a new/unread e-mail, the e-mail is immediately removed from the list in the second I select it. Apparently the smart mailbox refreshes immediately once an e-mail is marked as unread, giving me no time to even read it.

Expected behavior: When the sidebar/mailboxes are not hidden, the e-mail is marked unread, but not removed from the smart mailbox. Only when I leave the mailbox and come back to it, the list is refreshed and the read e-mail(s) are removed.

Steps to reproduce (at least on my computer this failed reliably):

  • show sidebar/mailboxes
  • go to a mailbox, e.g., "All Messages"
  • mark a few mails as unread
  • hide sidebar/mailboxes
  • switch to smart mailbox "Unread" using Cmd-T
  • select first mail (it disappears)
  • select following mails (they disappear)

I think this is still an issue. I have the newest beta release and I find that unread messages are instantly sorted into the read messages list, no matter what mailbox they are visible.

Expected behavior prior to the release last week: Clicking on an unread message will display the message but not re-sort the mailbox until the window refreshed.

Current behavior: Unread messages are instantly sorted out of smart mailboxes and/or sent to into the read messages area. Accidental up/down arrow strokes can instantly send unread messages into unexpected locations.

Someone else was writing about this on another thread, I also summarized there.
