Return key does not complete Move to Mailbox

Reported by Chris Miller | November 4th, 2018 @ 02:27 AM

Prior to updating to version 1.12.1 (5552), I was able to move messages to mailboxes from the keyboard (option-T to bring up the Move to Mailbox dialog, start typing and/or use arrow keys to select the desired mailbox, then return to move the message). Now nothing happens after typing return; to complete the action, I must use a mouse or trackpad.

Are you sure you are using ⌥⌘T (Message ▸ Move to Mailbox)?

Here's a link to the previous public release if needed.

Yes. Everything works as expected except not being able to type "Return" to complete the action. Thanks for the link!

I can confirm the behaviour Chris describes.

Go to Mailbox (⌘+T) and Move to Mailbox (⌥⌘T) don’t respond to hitting Return. Maybe this is particular to OS X 10.10.5 which I’m still stuck on?

@phph: Perhaps. Does the previous release work for you?

@Chris: What is your macOS version?

Thanks for the reply, @benny. I tried the release you linked to (r5523) but there must have been some sort of mix-up because it contained r5552. And http://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/ shows it as having changed at 2018-11-03 14:11. I then manually downloaded r5524 from http://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/ and that works fine, so far.

If it helps, I could go through the other releases to find the one it started not working in any more, but I won’t be able to do that until the end of the week.

@phph: Oh, sorry about the linking mistake. If you do the search then do it the binary way, that is, try the one in the middle of the possible range in each step. Then you shouldn't need to try more than a few releases. Note that some releases might be buggy in other ways.

Now I did find some time earlier and for me it presents like this:

    • r5538 works as expected
    • r5539 does not work

The release notes for r5539 say

Changed: Internal code changes making it a bit less likely that future changes accidentally break MailMate on earlier macOS releases.

Maybe it has something to do with that?

Anyway, I hope this helps you find the relevant code.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help.

    • State changed from “new” to “fixcommitted”

You can try the latest test release now: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

Yes, I can confirm it works again in r5555.

    Thanks a million!
