Stuck tag name in toolbar

Reported by Jim White | October 17th, 2018 @ 04:31 PM

I was playing around with the tag button in the toolbar and somehow managed to get it stuck displaying a particular tag. I can continue to add other tags, but when I click to display the same tag again, it duplicates.

Could you try updating to the latest test release to see if it makes a difference: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane.

In any case, you can reset it using this command in a Terminal window:

    defaults delete com.freron.MailMate MmToolbarTags

Let me know if you figure out how you got it into this state.

Neither updating nor running the defaults command has made any difference. Below is the output from the command.

    jim@mac ~ % defaults delete com.freron.MailMate MmToolbarTags
    2018-10-25 09:10:39.519 defaults[2026:97682]
    Domain (com.freron.MailMate) not found.
    Defaults have not been changed.
    jim@mac ~ % defaults read com.freron.MailMate MmToolbarTags
    2018-10-25 09:11:07.499 defaults[2033:98092]
The domain/default pair of (/Users/jimmerricks/Library/Preferences/com.freron.MailMate, MmToolbarTags) does not exist
    jim@mac ~ % defaults -host com.freron.MailMate find MmToolbarTags
2018-10-25 09:12:45.428 defaults[2065:99587] No domain, key, nor value containing 'MmToolbarTags'

Sorry, it should have been MmToggleTagList. Not sure where I got the other one from :)

    Thanks. That will do.

On the one hand, I wanted to be able to reorder the tags and I am now able to do that. On the other hand, there is still a lingering bug. I can no longer produce the doubling in the above screenshot, but it still defaults to 'r:water' when I clear everything from the the 'Display in Toolbar' option.

    • State changed from “new” to “resolved”

That's actually a feature. The most recently used tag is displayed as the button name. “Most recently used” is the default behaviour when nothing has been configured.
