Does not mark e-mail as read

Reported by jos (at dagaz-coaching) | February 27th, 2018 @ 12:56 PM

I had to re-install MM recently.

I now have this strange behavior that when I read a message in MM, I the see the message as unread in Airmail on my iPhone and iPad.

Wat did I do wrong?

That's hard to say. I assume this means that you do receive new emails in the account?

In any case, first check that all mailboxes in the account are online: Check that no mailboxes are greyed out in the SOURCES section in the mailbox list. This is to make sure that your local changes are synchronized with the server.

I do receive e-mails and all mail;boxes are online. The are never offline unless there is something seriously wrong with the WIFI. And that hardly ever happens. I really isa a new e-mail unread in MM. I then open it and read it.

Subsequently when I open Airmail on my phone, then it shows the e-mails I just read on my iMac as unread. Increasing the time between reading on the iMac and opening Airmail does not solve the issue. So it is not a delay problem. It happens with both Gmail accounts as well as e-mail accounts I have on our own server.

Ok, let's make sure MailMate behaves as expected:

    1. Open the Activity Viewer in MailMate (⌥⌘0).
    2. Change an email from unread to read state.
    3. Wait a few seconds.
    4. Use “Help ▸ Send Server Logs”.

Then I'll review the logs to see if it synchronizes with the server.

    Thanks in advance.

    • State changed from “new” to “cantreproduce”

It seems to work as expected:

    15:34:18 C: H48 UID STORE 72297 +FLAGS.SILENT (\Seen)
    15:34:19 S: * 3 FETCH (UID 72297 MODSEQ (10956975) FLAGS ($NotJunk \Seen))
    15:34:19 S: H48 OK Success

The \Seen flag is what all IMAP servers use to keep track of the read state.

In other words, I think the problem is elsewhere. MailMate behaves as expected.
