IMAP account 'name' issue
Reported by hieracosphinx | February 23rd, 2018 @ 12:10 AM
I imported a number of IMAP accounts where the 'name' that appears in front of the email address where you send mail was a single letter word followed by a second word - for an anonymous example, 'A company'. However either during the import or during the manual setup of the account, or because a mail received to the account was incorrectly addressed, when sending mail and in the to/from columns, and in the headers on forwarded and replied to mail, MailMate seems to think the account name is now 'company' not 'A company'.
In the edit IMAP account window name is shown correctly as 'A company' (I had to change this at some point after manual set up of the account was completed as it had become 'company' somehow) but all the mail being sent appears to be being sent from 'company <<a href="mailto:department@acompany.com">department@acompany.com' when I would like it to be sent from the name I have entered in the IMAP account settings i.e. 'A company '.
I am not sure if the issue is that the name can't be changed once the IMAP account is set up, or that MailMate is finding a previous email addressed to or sent from 'company <department@acompany.com' incorrectly (missing the A before company in the name) in which case the issue may be MailMate's protocols to search all sent mail when offering email addresses to the user.
I have tried changing the 'name' field in the IMAP account and changing it back again, and I have tried blacklisting 'department@company.com' in the email address list offered when you create a new mail. Neither has worked. Is there a fix for this I have missed?

I think this might be a fixed bug. Could you try the test release: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane. Let me know how that goes.
