Date Received question

Reported by Peter Borsella | January 31st, 2018 @ 07:10 PM

Hi,

I have recently installed MailMate and am a new user in trial mode: MailMate/5443 MacBookAir6,1/x86_64/4/10.13.2

I have a Gmail account with many older emails that I need to retain. Emails from 2008, for example, when they download to my desktop, have a "Date Received" of today. I would have expected I would see the original date it was received in Gmail from 2008. Is this correct behavior? I've attached a screen shot.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks...Peter

    Sorry about the late reply!

If I remember correctly Gmail has a weird issue where an extra Received header is inserted at the top of “imported” emails. But I thought I had added a workaround for that...

Could you send me an example using “Help ▸ Send Feedback” and then attach it, e.g., using drag'n'drop? Then I'll review the headers.

I am having the same problem with one of my iCloud mail accounts.
Just let me know if you need the header of my example mail, too.

    • State changed from “new” to “fixreleased”

@Benjamin: If you are still seeing it after the update today then send me an email with an example (Help ▸ Send Feedback). Note that you might need to use “Message ▸ Reset...” to force MailMate to re-parse the date of a specific email.

The original problem in this email has been resolved. It was triggered by some very malformed date headers which MailMate is now handling as well as it can.

@benny: Thanks a lot, this solved the problem for me!

    • Tag set to apple mail, date, mobileme, sent

It seems like some E-Mails come from the Apple server with no timestamp at all! This might explain the difficulties that MailMate has to properly sort these mails. I'll send you an example.
    Best regards
