This is related to ticket #161 which contains some suggestions on how to “fix it”, but the fixes are essentially to start over which can be slow if you have many messages.

The good news is that I am currently working on code which should automatically detect this kind of problem and fix it by recreating the database based on the already downloaded messages. If you are willing to test this then it would be very much appreciated. You can download a beta here. When launched it should present you with a window with some options to repair the database. Note that this has not been tested by anyone but myself, so you may want to make a copy of the following folder first:

    ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/

Under some special circumstances it is not going to work much better than what is described in #161, that is, you need to redownload all messages (the third option in the window presented).

Any events leading up to this problem is of interest.

Status on this ticket is as follows: The linked beta above was unfortunately to a version where database rebuilding was disabled. When this problem was corrected (a new beta sent by private email) then the database rebuilding code worked as expected.
