Reported by Jens | October 24th, 2017 @ 06:50 AM

i have a problem with a large (> 3MB) Mail which contains some broken Outlook-Base64-Encode stuff. When i click the mail mailmate hangs up. I have attachted a part of it from the webmailer that you can see what i mean.
Sorry, i cannot attach the mail.

3MB shouldn't be a problem itself, but apparently it triggers something which is very slow in MailMate. If it's an email you can share with me then I would appreciate if you could forward it to me. Using MailMate you would probably need to:

    • Disable the preview in the main window.
    • Select the email and drag it to the Desktop.
    • Right-click it to use “Compress”.
    • Use “Help ▸ Send Feedback” to send the resulting file to me.

The above should avoid having MailMate display the email.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Benny,
thanks for you help, but i am sorry in this case i cannot send it to you because it is a mail which contains information i cannot share.
    Anything i can do?

    Thanks
    Jens

After dragging the email to the Desktop then you can edit it using a text editor (if you know how). That would allow you to remove any private information such as address headers. You can also alter the base64, e.g., replace some or all of it with the same symbol. Then verify that it still triggers the hang in MailMate.

Actually i cannot reproduce it. Does a subfolder behave in any other way (parsing etc.) as the INBOX?

    • State changed from “new” to “cantreproduce”

Yes, I don't see any way that the location of an email could affect how it is parsed. (There's always the possibility of some kind of memory trashing which can make the behavior inconsistent.)

Let me know if the issue returns and/or you find a way for me to try to reproduce it.

    Thanks in advance!
