Signature handling
Reported by Phu Nguyen Anh | October 9th, 2011 @ 03:23 PM
Hi,
I personally find that automatic signature insertion does not suitable for me. Here is what I want to insert signature:
For work, I mainly have 2 signature: Full and short. For
creating new email, I use full one, the short one is for replying
email. And MailMate's way of automatic signature has never work
well for me.
Sometimes I click on the TO field and Mailmate insert the full
signature on top of my written email content so I have to manually
remove it.
Is there anyway to stop automatic signature handling, I just want to manually select my signature.
Just to share with you,
I've used Apple Mail and Outlook 2011 but none of them sastify
me:
- Apple Mail manytimes doesnot show email content, instead it show
me just the raw email with all the Base64 encoding stuff (I've
double checked if I choose to view in raw, but no, just normal
view). It sometimes event doesn't display all the attachment in the
email :( - Outlook 2011 is much better in email formatting,
displaying and more compatible with my company's email (99.99% is
HTML, sometimes including tables, etc.), but it just can't tell me
the total number of unread emails (including sub folders) I have
until I click on unread sub folders. Also Outlook 2011 only works
with IMAP, for some reason it doesnot work if I choose to use
Exchange protocol. Even IT guys can't help me on that..
So MailMate's full offline support is really what I want for my email and thank you very much for that feature. Still, it would be great if you include a rich email format and tags (I know this is very likely be added per help file). Currently I still have to use both MailMate and Outlook 2011 for offline IMAP and HTML composing.

No, there is currently no way to disable the dynamic signatures, but I'll make a note of it and track the state of this in this ticket.
I guess MailMate could take into consideration whether the user is writing a new message or a reply when trying to derive the most likely needed signature. I'll think about that.
Apple Mail: I don't think I've seen this issue myself. If you have such a message then you are welcome to forward it to me (as an attachment). I try to collect problematic emails :-)
Primitive use of tags is possible using key bindings (useful for a small number of tags). I do want to improve this, but I have no time frame.
A rich text (HTML) composer is not likely to happen any time soon. My general opinion is that HTML is a very bad format for composing emails and there exists no standardization in this area. It really only works well for one-way marketing emails (if the receivers are known to use HTML capable email clients).
