Forced to discard HTML when replying inline
Reported by Andres Guedez | January 10th, 2017 @ 06:37 PM
Hi!
I am trialing MailMate and it has become my go-to mail client, but there is one issue that is preventing me from completely switching over to it:
When replying inline to HTML emails (created by the sender with Outlook), MailMate is forcing me to discard HTML and switch to plain text. Once I do this, the formatting of the email breaks, effectively preventing me from using MM for these emails. I run into this issue quite often with my work email account, so this has become a bit of a pain point for me.
Are there any settings I need to tweak to properly deal with these emails? If not, do you have any plans to address the issues preventing inline replies to these types of emails using HTML?
Thanks!
Andres

I do not have any plans to allow inline editing HTML messages (without converting to plain text). MailMate uses a plain text editor, but the various settings in the Composer preferences pane still allows it to do many things with HTML -- but inlining replies in HTML is not one of them.
I'm sorry to disappoint you.
What kind of formatting do you lose? Maybe I can improve this part. Currently MailMate uses the plain text part provided by the sending email client (Outlook, but in some cases it might make more sense to convert the HTML to plain text.
