Can't upload eel files to MailSteward

Reported by David Crippen | December 6th, 2016 @ 05:16 PM

Benny, I'm trying to upload a big bunch of my mails to an archive app (MailSteward). I haven't had any problem in the past. This time I save all the mail to a folder (all come out as eml files), then I select "Import MBOX files", it tells me the ml files are "not a valid database file". Won't save any of them. Unfortunately for me, MailSteward does not list a technical help. Can you give me any advice? Thanks as always.

You are dealing with 2 different formats here. The .eml files are not .mbox files. You can either import the .eml files into MailSteward (also known as standard email format or RFC822 or maybe .msg) or you can export to the .mbox format in MailMate using the “Command ▸ Export ▸ Copy to mbox” command. The latter format is a multi-message-format.

(If I remember correctly then it's actually possible to set this up such that MailSteward automatically picks up and deletes any newly exported emails to some disk folder, but I've forgotten the details.)

Let me know if this does not resolve your issue.
