IMAP problem for "Name.com" account

Reported by Michael Dwyer | October 4th, 2016 @ 06:05 PM

I think I can narrow this down to attempting to move email into the Archive folder. I can tell from their web mail that it stays in the inbox, and multiple copies (one for each retry) end up in the Archive folder.

The error message reads:

MailMate encountered the following error: "Unable to parse literal
("("Message-ID")]{44}")".
Mailbox: "INBOX"

The number (44) varies.

I just signed up for this email server so I can't say if this is out of the ordinary for them. I didn't see any errors when testing with Apple Mail. I can give you account credentials for the email server if it will help.

Thanks again for this wonderful program!
Michael

I did just get this dialog from Apple Mail though when attempting to Trash a different message:

    Is their service just broken?

It's certainly not a good sign that a simple copy also seems to fail.

In general, my policy is to do whatever I can to make things work with buggy servers, because there are so many of them. So, let's give it a shot.

Try holding down shift (⇧) when clicking “Retry”. This should generate a log file on your desktop which you can send to me using “Help ▸ Send Feedback”. I can then at least see if MailMate or name.com is to blame.

The IMAP server at name.com is a primitive variant, but the bug was in MailMate! MailMate has a workaround for primitive servers (no so-called UIDPLUS extension), but this workaround did not correctly parse the response from the name.com server. I believe I've fixed this now: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane to fetch a test release.

    Thanks for the report.

Thanks! That seemed to work. I have another error now and will create a separate ticket for it.
