Image resizing (Apple Mail style)
Reported by larrycz | June 1st, 2011 @ 09:57 PM
This is a bluesky feature, and you may have views on whether this should be in MailMate or not. However in Apple Mail this is a killer feature. Being able to drag & drop large pictures into an email and resize them before sending just by selecting Medium or Small from a dropbox saves lots of time.

I wouldn't mind such a feature in MailMate, but right now you are correct. It is a bluesky feature. MailMate does not even allow inline images in the composer.

Me too - I would very much appreciate that feature. Inlining is not that important, but resizing saves lot of time. Any idea for a workaround in the meantime?

@m.c.: I've changed it to “accepted” although it might not mean that it'll be implemented faster :)
I like general solutions more than hardcoded solutions. A recent feature in MailMate allows bundle commands to be applied to attachments. I'm thinking this could be extended to allow replacing an attachment (also in non-drafts). This could do anything, but the primary purpose would be to allow resizing an attachment (or multiple attachments in one go). Ideally, it would also work with the undo-stack such that these changes can be reverted (e.g., if resizing too aggressively).
Would that work for you? (No promises on implementation date.)

I was hoping to use Markdown syntax to resize images embedded in a Markdown-formatted message, but none of the Markdown styles I tried seem to work. Does MailMate recognize a syntax I might be missing?
