URL scheme (feature expansion request)

When drafting a new email via URI like "mailto:me@example.com?subject=Test&body=Body%20text" I would also like to specify which email address goes into the From header line.

    There is no way to explicitly specify the email address in the From header line. It is not described in that page. Even if I try to use from=user@domain.com added as the part of the URI it just gets ignored. Parameters specified before and after that parameters are used, but from=whatever is not used.

    Ok, I'll verify that it works as expected, but first one more question: Is the From address you are specifying known to MailMate? It must be known to one of your accounts (Email Addresses or Address Pattern)?

    The page I referred to does mention from, but it's not part of any of the examples.

    The address I used for testing is one of email addresses that I use all the time, and of course known to MailMate (in the list given as Email Address(es) in IMAP Account Settings).

    The page mentioned From, but that sounds the same as the usual rule whereby MailMate decides which address to put in by default. It doesn't mention from parameter keyword in mailto: URI syntax. I tried it anyway, and had no effect.

    Sounds like the feature does not work as expected. I'll let you know if I cannot reproduce it.

    From the manual page: “MailMate also extends the mailto: syntax to include some additional special parameters. These are from, attachment-url and send-now.” and “The from value should just be an email address and MailMate then takes care of finding the corresponding identity. It works with all identity settings including address patterns. If an unknown address is given then MailMate falls back to the default account.”

    I was able to reproduce it. The problem is that this feature relied on the “trust” variant of using the mailto: URL. This is not necessary and it did not match the documentation. I'm not sure this ever worked as advertised.

    In a few seconds: Hold down ⌥ when clicking “Check Now” in the Software Update preferences pane (r5176). Let me know if it still does not work as advertised.
