Next unread message/thread only working within the current mailbox

Right now there does not seem to be an easy way to step through the unread messages of a mail source using one shortcut.
Next unread msg/thread acts only within the current email folder but does not jump into the next mailbox folder containing unread messages. This is kind of a usability issue because you have to click on the related other folder then continue from there.
