[feature request] ESC from toolbar search

First off, I like the new toolbar search functionality a great deal, and am quite glad to see it.
In working with it, I notice that the escape key does clear the search box as I would expect, but I'm used to a second press of escape moving the cursor back to the messages pane (or alternately wherever it was before the search key was invoked. Is it possible to do that with current key-bindings, or perhaps possible to get that functionality some other way?
