Mailmate crashed

Reported by Lorraine Goodman | December 6th, 2014 @ 08:41 AM

Hi Benny

Mailmate keeps crashing, I get the following message:

Message body for msg id 137974 not found (Messages/IMAP/somewhatlimited@imap.gmail.com/[Google Mail].mailbox/Bin.mailbox/Messages/

If I can find the message on my computer somewhere, can I delete it and that will solve the problem or
is it more complicated than that.
Thanks
Lorraine Goodman
p.s. I never seem to be able to find a way to tell you an issue is resolved.

    Hi Benny

I'm getting the same message today. I'm pretty sure that if I relaunch the program several times it will
eventually disappear as it did yesterday but should I rebuild cached messages? Does that mean they'll all
    still be available to me?
    Thanks
    Lorraine

Rebuilding means that MailMate rebuilds its database indexes based on what it can find in the old database and the Messages folder:

    ~/Library/Application Support/MailMate/

It can take some time if you have a lot of messages, but in the end you should have what you had before except anything that was broken (like your currently missing message). After rebuilding the accounts are offline to allow you to review the result before taking them online. If any messages are missing then they'll be fetched from the server.

Now, we haven't found out why the message(s) disappeared which means that the real problem might not be solved, but you already told me that it is not antivirus software and I don't currently know anything else that could trigger it. I guess we'll have to see if the problem returns.

Rebuilding is faster with the new 64 bit build of MailMate. I recommend fetching that before rebuilding. You can read more about it here.

    I hope this helps.

    HI Benny

    I've done a rebuild. I thought I'd downloaded the 64bit version but it's still showing version 1.8 so I
don't know if I did the wrong thing but it still didn't take long to rebuild which was great. But I don't know how to
get the accounts back on line now - can you advise please.

I did find a message with the same id no on Entourage but it belonged to another email account to the one
with the error message. I deleted that message anyway but it didn't solve the problem, hence the rebuild.

    Thanks
    Lorraine

Ok, I'm glad it worked. Let me know if the problem returns.

The 64 bit version is also labeled 1.8, but it has a different revision number (r5025). You can see that in the About window of MailMate.
