Sorry about the late response!! Lighthouse (this ticket system) seems too have a problem which means I'm not getting an email notification when a new ticket is created.

So, you get the message and then it crashes when you click one of the buttons?

I reviewed the crash reports and it's not a known issue. Could you first try updating to the latest beta version of MailMate. If you cannot do it in the Software Update preferences pane then here is a direct link.

Again, I'm very sorry about the late reply. You can use the contact address listed here if you want to make sure I get an email. (Until the lighthouse issue has been fixed I'll also make sure to manually check the ticket system.)

    Thanks for you reply.
I clicked on you "direct link" in your response and got this message after it downloaded to my HD:
"MailMate" can't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed. Please advise.
    Thanks.

You may need to explicitly allow non-App Store applications in the Security preferences pane in System Preferences. Alternatively, you can hold down ⌃ (Control) when double-clicking MailMate to bypass Gatekeeper.

    Benny,
    Thanks for the tip.
I changed the settings in System Preferences to allow opening the program...after opening it shortly displayed this message:
IMAP problem for ".Mac - warren14" account
MailMate encountered the following error: "Unknown FETCH response ()P6).".
    Mailbox: "Junk/INBOX".
Retry - Take Account Offline - Try Later
(No matter which one I click on it shuts down)

Ok, there are two issues here:

    • The error itself (Unknown FETCH response).
    • The crash after the error message.

    Both are quite mysterious.

The mailbox name is pretty weird, “Junk/INBOX”, but it shouldn't really be a problem. Is there anything special about this mailbox?

I'd like to see if there is any additional error output if you launch MailMate from the Terminal (if you know how to use that). It is launched like this:

    /Applications/MailMate.app/Contents/MacOS/MailMate

Then copy/paste the error output to this ticket.

Here is another thing to try: If you switch the network off then MailMate won't crash because it cannot connect to the server. This allows you to right-click “Junk/INBOX” and explicitly take it offline (“Take Offline”). Then switch the network on again. If this is the only mailbox triggering the problem then MailMate should be able to run except for this mailbox.

Could you try this test version of MailMate: http://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/MailMate_r4569.tbz

You are still welcome to answer my questions in the previous update to this ticket.

    Thanks in advance.

I think I might have found the trigger for this problem. Another user had the same problem and it turns out that the problem is that the iCloud (.Mac) account is configured with old server settings. If you have the account configured with mail.mac.com then please try the official settings provided here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4864

You change settings using “File ▸ Edit IMAP Account ▸ ...”.

I'd very much like to have this theory confirmed or rejected.
