Feedback for assigning spam status

Reported by Thomas Hanke | March 8th, 2011 @ 04:31 PM

Spam 2 in a row, I guess it's not new, just another perspective.

I need some feedback that I actually move msgs from/to the spam.

My original issue was about synching junk status and spam folder.

It seems moving mails to the inbox works fine. After trying: ok, the menu items work, too. (leaving aside the shortcut issue - can't assign the same shortcut to 'Junk' and 'Not Junk')

But without some feedback I can't be sure and tend to check back with the other folder.

To be honest, my current practice is to mark the occasional spam getting thru manually in a browser.

The intention is that you should use “Move to Junk” when identifying a spam message. The feedback is then that the message leaves your Inbox.

If in the Junk mailbox, the intention is that you should use “Move Out of Junk” (same shortcut) which should move it back to the Inbox (if that is where it arrived). But there seems to be a bug with regard to the shortcut. I'll look into that.

Do you need more than this?

I'm really sorry, I got confused by the status and the folder.

I missed the proper functioning in MM. And in other mail apps, I didn't rely on it.

Ok, what's the function of the 'Junk State' then?

MailMate could work with the Junk mailbox only, but the $Junk flag is
still useful. Note that an email client has no way to know if a certain
mailbox is used for junk messages. It must be told so explicitly (or by
guessing). The $Junk flag is standardized and most email clients will
never load external references for such messages no matter what mailbox
    is used.

The $Junk/$NotJunk flags are also standardized and part of the
requirements are that it must be possible for the user to set/unset
    these values.
