Refusing password

Hi Benny, A rackspace email account has refused to login a few times intermittently. I received the error in the attached screenshot.

The character count of the password looked wrong. It matched the length of an old password. I manually entered the current email address, and everything worked for about the next 24 hours, then it came up again.

I manually entered the new email address again, then deleted all references of the old PW in OS X Keychain. That will hopefully do the trick.

Hadn't run into something like that before, so thought you may want to know.

    Maybe the first time was IMAP and the second time was SMTP?

    Let me know if it happens again. I intend to add password fields to the account settings to make it easier to update the passwords used by MailMate.

    Hi Benny,

    The same error message just popped up again. See attached screenshot. The previous ticket was #775.

    I didn't notice if it was IMAP first and SMTP second, but I will be more aware for that next time.

    The character count of the password looks correct this time, and I've tried checking the 'save this password' box, and entering the PW again, but no luck. I have not been fiddling with anything that I could imagine causing this.

    I've taken the account offline for now and will let you know if it starts working spontaneously again. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

    This error today, unsure if it's related. This is for my Google mail account.

    I waited a few min and resending the same email was successful with no changes in settings.

    I believe the Gmail-problem is a server glitch.

    I'm not sure what to do about the other account. I assume you are absolutely sure you are using the correct password? Does it work in Apple Mail?

    Both screenshots are SMTP by the way.
