nextUnreadMessage: and previousUnreadThread: no longer working?

Reported by Leo Franchi | May 1st, 2014 @ 06:03 PM

Hello!

I've got a very small custom keybindings file with some keybindings, including the following:

    "@\UF703"       = "nextUnreadMessage:";
    "@\UF702"       = "previousUnreadThread:";

I use the cmd+left arrow and cmd+right arrow to navigate through new messages in my mailboxes. However, starting ~2 days ago, this key shortcut no longer works. I'm on 4206 right now, but I recently upgraded from an older version (to see if it would fix it), without luck.

The odd thing is I am running the exact same keybindings file on my home computer, which is also a mbp running 10.9 and the same version of MailMate. So I'm not sure what the difference is :-/

Is there any debug info I can provide to help track this down? Thanks!

cheers,
leo

    There is no debug output available for this (yet). I suggest you first consider which applications you may have installed which could be grabbing these shortcuts. Maybe you have a secondary account on the machine in which you could try the shortcuts in MailMate?

    Hmm interesting. Some additional data points:

    • Cmd+left/right work in other apps that use it
    • In Mailmate, when I cmd+right, I hear a beep. I don't know why/where it comes from, but something beeps like it fails to do something.

    Thanks for the super quick response!

    Maybe you could try downgrading to e.g., r4025 (latest beta) or r3905 (latest official): http://updates.mailmate-app.com/archives/

    Just to see if it's related to a change in MailMate.

    Also, what do you expect from ⌘→/⌘← ?

    Interesting, after some more investigation, on stable AND testing (r3905 and r4206), it works if the message list has focus, but not if i have just clicked a folder in the left sidebar. So I guess you can close this issue :)

    Relatedly, is there a way I can make "go to inbox" or clicking a folder in the left sidebar give focus to the message list? :)

    • State changed from “new” to “closed”

    Sorry about the late answer. Using key bindings you can do this:

    i = ( "goToMailbox:", "INBOX", "makeFirstResponder:", "mainOutline:" );

    Not putting the focus in the mailbox list when clicked is not currently possible. There are several things that would need to be changed to do this (if you mean like how it works in Apple Mail).

    Note that using ⌘T does not switch focus to the mailboxes.
