Address duplication

Reported by Frank Cianciolo | December 6th, 2013 @ 10:20 PM

This relates to a previous ticket I created that you marked as a duplicate .. hoping I'm not duplicating again but I didn't find anything else addressing this issue.

When I use one of the address groups I've created in Apple's Address Book, MailMate enters multiple duplicates of most of the addresses in the group. Sometimes, it also uses alternate addresses for some addressees. This could be related to Apple's atrocious implementation of address groups or possibly their even worse implementation of syncing between iCloud and local address books but I don't know how to investigate those aspects.

Do the duplicates appear because you have duplicate email addresses within the group? I don't think MailMate would currently remove such duplicates. I guess you could also easily have overlapping groups and in that case you would also want MailMate to automatically leave out any addresses already in the recipient header. I'll mark the ticket as accepted to handle these issues.

I think a group can be told which type of address to prefer from the group members and I think MailMate respects that, but I might be wrong since I haven't really tested it.
