Aperture applescript to us MailMate

Reported by Fred Appleton | October 28th, 2013 @ 02:01 AM

I may not really understand the problem, but here we go. Mailmate is my email client. When I emit a photo to email, Aperture loads Apple Mail. Can it load MailMate instead?

I don't have Aperture which means I cannot look into it myself. In general, Apple has a tendency to hardcode the email client which can be used by their applications. There are two possible solutions:

    • Aperture is somehow configurable with respect to the email client used. Perhaps an AppleScript is executed which is located somewhere inside the Aperture application bundle. As a hack that could be replaced to use MailMate instead (this is possible with some other applications). (I can help with that if such a script can be located.)

    • A separate AppleScript which can take the currently displayed photo and send it directly to MailMate. This depends on the scriptability of Aperture.

I'll leave this ticket open in case someone else has a solution, but right now I cannot help you.

A quick Google search revealed this: http://traviscj.com/blog/integrating_sparrow_and_apertureiphoto.html

If the following script exists then the first option I mentioned above should be possible:

Similar solutions for MailMate can be found here:

And the other examples are documented here. I can help you do this, but I don't have enough time right now.
