I cannot reproduce this, but I'm on Lion right now. I'll try Mountain Lion later.
Until then, do you have access to a secondary machine with Mountain Lion (and MailMate) on which you can also reproduce these crashes?
(The crash reports, unfortunately, reveal very little about the problem.)

I suspect the issue is with lack of authentication information for the LDAP account.
I reproduced this issue on a second machine with a clean install of Mac OS X 10.8.2.
- I added two accounts in the Contacts app: one Exchange, and one LDAP. Both stored auth info in Keychain.
- In Mailmate, I created a new message
- Clicked "Address Book" button
- Click "All Directories"
- Begin typing something in the search field
- Keychain helper then prompts the user: "MailMate wants to use your confidential information stored in "LDAP Access Group" in your keychain." If I click allow, then everything is fine. If I click Deny, I get a reproducible crash.
So I think the issue is that I don't have any stored authentication information for one of my LDAP accounts on my primary machine. Indeed, deleting that LDAP account on my primary machine resolved the crash.

- State changed from new to resolved
Thanks for looking into it in more detail. MailMate has very little code with regard to the Address Book Panel and I'm not sure I can (easily) do anything about this problem. The panel is provided by an Apple framework and I'm not accessing the keychain directly. The window prompting for access to the keychain is also not under the control of MailMate.
I had a similar problem if the user had rejected access to Contacts, but in that case I can detect the problem and display a window describing to the user how to fix it (in Security Preferences of the System Preferences).
I'll note this ticket as resolved even though it would be nice if MailMate could handle this situation better.
Do you know if Apple Mail crashes under similar circumstances?
