MailMate adds CMD-I shortcut to browsers as "email link", no way to disable
Reported by John Y | May 22nd, 2024 @ 12:37 PM
When I press CMD-I while looking at a website in Vivaldi,
MailMate opens a new email offering to email the link. This appears
through an Email Link
option under File >
Share
.
I don't want this behaviour — however, I cannot disable it. (More specifically, I'm fine with it being in the menu, but I do not want a keyboard shortcut on it. Especially not CMD-I, which triggers when I'm using a page with a content editor that doesn't implement standard shortcuts for the Italic button!)
If I click File > Share > More…
I get
taken to System Settings where it does not allow me to edit the
keyboard shortcut or disable the share item.
Suggested fixes:
- Add a way of disabling this share item completely
- Add a way of customising the keyboard shortcut (including removing it completely, not just assigning it to something else!)
- Remove the keyboard shortcut completely and leave it so the item is accessed by clicking on the menu item only

I don't think this is a MailMate specific issue. If you switch to Apple Mail as default email client then you'll have the same problem. You might be able to explicitly create a menu item with the same title in system settings and then give it a different shortcut, but I wasn't able to make that work.
I think this is something which has changed with a macOS release and I might be missing how it can be configured. Let me know if you figure something out.
...
If not, I think I could at least provide a hidden setting for MailMate to simply not support these menu items.
