Messages stuck in INBOX

Reported by Remo | May 22nd, 2024 @ 08:32 AM

Every now and then, there is a message stuck in my Inbox that always comes back. I have tried the following things:

  • Removing it
  • Resetting it
  • Moving it to another folder
  • Removing it from the file system
  • Take the mailbox offline and online again

As soon as I perform an IMAP sync, the message re-appears. The message does not appear in other IMAP mail clients and is also gone from Zimbra (the groupware hosting the IMAP account).

I'm using Version 1.14 (5937).

Thanks for any help!

Do NOT remove emails from the file system. That'll just confuse MailMate.

Do you see it in the universal Inbox (the one under Mailboxes) or in the INBOX of the account itself (under Sources)?

You can try enabling the “Raw Flags” column to see if the \Deleted flag is enabled. This might explain why other email clients do not show it.

Finally, try creating logs like this:

    • Open the Activity Viewer in MailMate (see the Window menu).
    • Try deleting it using “Messages > Delete Immediately” by holding down ⌥.
    • Wait for the message to re-appear.
    • Use “Help > Send Server Logs”.

I'll then see if it reveals something.

Many thanks for your answer Benny.

    • Raw flags show "\Seen" but not "\Deleted"
    • The mail appears in both the universal INBOX and the INBOX on the account itself under Sources
    • I have sent to the log files via e-mail
    • When I try to move the message, I get the error "Failed to move message": "Server response: “H139 NO UID COPY failed”. Command attempted: “H139 UID COPY 651214 Archive”

    Again, thanks for your support!

I'm quite sure this is a server issue. You should try contacting them and provide the UID COPY failure above.

It does seem weird that other email clients do not show the message. It's clearly there based on the logging you sent me.

Webmail is less weird since it could be a symptom of the same server issue.
