Inconsistent behaviour for renaming mailboxes

Expected behavior: Clicking on a mailbox name will not put it into edit mode.
Observed behavior:
1. Attempt to rename a mailbox using the "Rename Mailbox..."
context menu item.
2. Immediately hit Esc to exit without making a
change.
From now on, if I click on that particular mailbox it goes in to edit mode. Testing the behavior out a bit, I noticed that if I actually rename the mailbox this click-to-edit behavior won't be enabled (I must exit without actually renaming). Also, if I restart MM the behavior resets.
I'm not sure if click-to-edit is supported (like in Finder) or not, so don't know which behavior is the bug. But there definitely is inconsistent behavior.

It should not work with click to edit.
