Custom URI for message link
Reported by Paul Massendari | February 16th, 2022 @ 02:15 PM
Hello Benny,
My previous ticket was marked as spam, probably due to the links. Let me try another time:
I'm using the Notion App, and unfortunately this app does not
allow for the linking of custom URI such as message:// or
similar.
I found a solution, which is to use an url shortener or a proxy
such as this service: https://github.com/inlife/spx
.
Therefore, I would love to be able to change the copied link
from a message in my clipboard from:
message://%3C025301d8232c%249f02be80%24dd083b80%24@mydomain.com%3E
myurlshortener.abc/message://%3C025301d8232c%249f02be80%24dd083b80%24@mydomain.com%3E
Is there some sort of magical command that could allow such a modification ?
I can see another use case with the org mode users, who could want to modify the copied link in the clipboard to an already org-mode-formatted email.
What do you think?
Many thanks,
Paul

No, there's currently no way to change copied links in general. There might be third party applications able to do this in general.
Using a specialized bundle command, you could create the link yourself and put it on the pasteboard (
pbcopy
). The link is based on theMessage-ID
header. Something like this is done by some of the existing bundles, e.g., OmniFocus. For bundles in general: Bundles wiki.Could you add a link to the org-mode request to this ticket?
The spam-issue is a general problem with the ticket system (I've now marked you explicitly as a non-spammer).
